It was an honour to join industry leaders to discuss Responsible Gold Mining: Environmental & Social Practices. We explored how transparency, dialogue, and shared value can help mining companies build lasting relationships with host communities. I emphasized that earning a social license goes beyond compliance - it’s about trust and tangible community benefits. Drawing from the Segilola Gold Project, I shared lessons on managing expectations, promoting local development, and proving that responsible mining drives both economic and social progress. This reinforced my belief that Nigeria’s mining future depends on sustainability, accountability, and true partnership.
