Ian Chauke is a mining executive with more than two decades of operational and leadership experience across South Africa’s most demanding mining environments. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mining Engineering from the University of Johannesburg.
As General Manager at Universal Coal, he leads complex operations spanning gold, PGMs, chrome, coal, phosphate, and copper, having built a career across Gold Fields, AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo American, Samancor, Exxaro, and BHP, leading feasibility studies, turnarounds, and performance optimisation programmes.
Beyond operations, he is an executive member of the Black Management Forum and a Board Member of SAMYA. A published thought leader, Ian has delivered keynote addresses at regional platforms including the Ideal Summit in Botswana and AMMZA Zimbabwe.
