Tenele Ndlovu

Project Office for Zero Emission Buses

Tenele Ndlovu is a project officer for Zero Emission Buses at C40 cities. C40 is a network of mayors of nearly 100 world-leading cities collaborating to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis. Together, we can create a future where everyone, everywhere can thrive. She is a BSc and BSc honours graduate in Environmental Management. Tenele is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Environmental Science focusing on Climate change policies’ implementation at the University of South Africa.

Tenele’s career started after she graduated for her BSc at the Department of Environmental Affairs (no Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment) as an intern under the International Climate Change Relations and Reporting Chief Directorate, focusing on conducting research and supporting the preparation, formulation, consultation and approval of South African positions on climate change related multi-lateral and cooperation agreements. Assisting to coordinate and support the negotiation of approved South African positions on climate change related multi-lateral and cooperation agreements. Supporting
the formulation and approval of recommendations for national implementation of climate change related multi-lateral and cooperation agreements.

Tenele then joined the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as intern under the Climate Support Programme focusing on Climate Change Mitigation, Monitoring & Evaluation and MRV component and got promoted to a Junior Advisor position. Tenele then added Gender Mainstreaming into Climate Change Policies as a focus in 2022. She then joined the C40 Cities in January 2024 as a project Officer for Zero Emission Buses for the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI e-bus Mission).

Tenele completed mulYple short courses like the McKinsey forward program, Climate Change MiYgaYon in Developing countries, Global Environmental Management, Climate Change AdaptaYon in Africa, CommunicaYon and Influence in the Digital Age, IntroducYon to the Sustainable Development Goals etc. and a CerYficate of Proficiency in 501 IPCC: INTRODUCTION TO CROSS-CUTTING ISSUES from the GHG Management InsYtute.
