Joseph Mashele is the current co-chair of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Working Party on Pollution and Energy (GRPE) Environmental and Propulsion Performance Requirements (EPPR) Informal Working Group (IWG). He is also the working group and task team leader in the African Organization for Standardisation (ARSO) Technical Committee on Automotive Technology and Engineering (TC 59). Joseph is the chairperson of the following South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Technical Committees: SABS/TC 22 – Construction of motor vehicles; SABS/TC 31 – Tyres, SABS/TC 1092 – Motor vehicles designed and/or adapted for use by persons with disabilities and SABS/TC 1034 – Agricultural, Earth-Moving, Forestry and Construction Equipment and Machinery. Joseph is currently a Technical Specialist and acting General Manager of the Regulatory Research and Development (RR&D) business unit of the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS). Joseph Mashele is an MBA candidate and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. Joseph also holds a Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joseph Mashele has over 15 years in the Automotive industry (both in the public and private sector) specializing in standardization, legislative drafting, research, homologation and vehicle body building, testing and calibration, product and system auditing, risk assessments, product management, marketing, sales engineering, economic and regulatory impact analysis as well as stakeholder management.
