Eric Motshwane is a Specialist in the Public Transport Transformation and Operations including both Minibus-Taxi and Bus Industry. He has been intimately involved in the implementation of the first BRT Bus Operating Company in South Africa and Africa.
He spent nearly 30 years in the minibus-taxi industry as the operator / owner of several vehicles as well as the Administrator of the Industry for many years.
The introduction of the BRT in the City of Joburg found Eric as the Chairman of the Industry in the Joburg Region and as an Executive member of the Gauteng Minibus-Taxi Council.
Eric accepted the challenge of introducing the new Public Transport System despite anticipated hostilities that the Industry usually creates against Government initiatives in the Public Transport domain.
He successfully led the Industry of Joburg, together with few colleagues, into a Transformation Process against many odds and was one of the Key Individuals ensuring the introduction of the BRT System and the establishment of the First Bus Operating Company owned by more than 300 former Minibus-Taxi Operators. This outcome opened doors for other Cities in South Africa to follow the City of Joburg and introduce new Formal Public Transport Systems across the Country.
He is currently a Director at SABAOA.
Eric has attended many Local and International Conferences and Seminars sharing his experience and advise with regard to the Transformation matters and challenges.
