Tim Treagus is the CEO and co-founder of Yazi, a WhatsApp-native AI research platform built for African and emerging markets. After a career in finance, Tim founded Yazi in 2022 on the conviction that the tools used to understand African consumers were built somewhere else, for someone else. Yazi runs surveys, AI-moderated interviews and diary studies directly inside the channel consumers already use every day, reaching a proprietary panel of more than 1.8 million participants in over 15 markets. Under Tim’s leadership, Yazi has become the research infrastructure that global agencies and brands, including Ipsos, eDreams, Uber, Old Mutual, Capitec and Pick n Pay, rely on to hear from consumers that traditional research misses. The company won the SAMRA/Kantar Innovation Award for its work benchmarking large language models for research use. Tim speaks regularly on AI moderation, conversational research design and what it takes to reach consumers at scale on the continent.
