Clayton Williams is the CEO of CapeBPO, the strategic industry body for Business Process Outsourcing in Cape Town and the Western Cape. With more than 20 years of experience in global customer experience and outsourcing, he has led large-scale projects across HR strategy, organisational development, operations, and learning and development. Before joining CapeBPO in 2017, Clayton led the HR/People functions of three different multinational BPO operators. As Chief Skills Officer at CapeBPO, he was responsible for developing and delivering the industry skills strategy in partnership with public and private sector stakeholders, growing the industry skills budget from R1.5 million in 2017 to over R850 million annually by 2022. Since taking over as CEO in 2019, Clayton has been instrumental in positioning Cape Town as Africa’s leading outsourcing hub, strengthening government-industry collaboration, securing new international investment, and overseeing demand-led skills programmes that have created thousands of jobs for local youth. With an academic background in psychology, Clayton believes human capital is the most valuable asset for long-term growth and is driven by the vision of ensuring South Africa’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.
