Sindisiwe Shozi is a Chief Engineer at eThekwini Municipality, bringing over 15 years of hands-on experience in the electrical engineering and energy distribution sector. A registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) with a BSc in Electrical Engineering, she combines deep technical expertise with a practical understanding of the complex realities facing South Africa’s municipalities every day. Sindisiwe holds an impressive portfolio of professional certifications , including a Project Management Professional (PMP), Government Certificate of Competency (GCC), and Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP) , reflecting her commitment to leading not just with engineering excellence, but with financial and managerial rigour. Beyond her work at eThekwini, Sindisiwe serves as General Secretary of the AMEU Women in Electricity , a role that speaks to her passion for building a more inclusive and resilient energy sector, and for opening doors for the next generation of women in engineering. At this year’s Municipal Forum, she brings that same energy to one of the sector’s most pressing challenges: electrifying informal settlements through practical interventions, emerging technologies, and strategies that municipalities can actually implement.
