My name is Refilewe Mokgosi, and I am a Professional Technologist in Electrical Engineering with over twenty-one years of experience in the field. I hold a Master of Business Leadership (MBL), a B-Tech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC), and have completed an Executive Development Management Program, among other qualifications. Currently, I serve as the Chief Area Engineer for the Springs and Nigel Energy Department at the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. Previously, I held the position of Executive Director for Public Works at Emfuleni Local Municipality, where I was responsible for overseeing three key service delivery departments: Electricity, Roads and Stormwater, and Environmental Management & Planning. Throughout my career, I have held various roles across several utilities, including City of Tshwane Metro, City Power, City of Ekurhuleni Metro, and Eskom, working in both Generation and Distribution. I am a former president of the Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities (AMEU) and have served as the chairperson for AMEU Women in Electricity. Additionally, I volunteer as a GCC Commissioner for Examiners for the Department of Employment and Labour and as a member of the Engineering Council of South Africa’s Identification of Engineering Work task team. I also serve as Deputy Chairperson for the Soweto Cabal Athletic Club. Driven, ambitious, and a skilled multitasker, I strive for excellence both professionally and personally. Outside of my work, I am a wife and mother of two energetic boys who share my passion for sports. As a runner, cyclist, and triathlete, I have completed ten Comrades Marathons and ten Two Oceans Marathons, along with various cycling races, including major events such as the 94.7, Cape Argus, Multi Double 90, Double Century, and the Jock Classic. This year, I’m aiming to complete my first Half Ironman, after an attempt last year that I didn’t finish. I live by the motto: “Make time for everything you want to achieve,” inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1–8, which reminds me that “there is a time for every activity under the heavens.”
