Princess Mthombeni known by many as “Princy” is a multi-award-winning communication specialist, a lifelong nuclear technology enthusiast and a World Nuclear University Alumnus from eNanda in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Her globally recognized work involves providing high-level strategic support to the government in leading, executing, and ensuring the success of nuclear communication strategies.
Princy’s contribution to solving global challenges include founding Africa4Nuclear, an advocacy campaign that promotes nuclear energy as a key contributor to achieving Africa’s Agenda for Sustainable Development. With over a decade of experience in the nuclear industry, Princy has built an even more powerful reputation that led her to becoming a Thought Leader in communicating nuclear and energy matters on the African continent.
Her incredible work has seen her being a speaker at numerous high-profile global events including Russia-Africa Humanitarian and Economic Forum 2023 (Russia), International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century, 2022 (Washington D.C.), 55th Japan Atomic Industrial Forum Conference (Japan), COP26 (U.K), COP27 (Egypt), as well as the 3rd Global Nuclear Science and Engineering Commencement alongside Bill Gates.
She has also been featured in different international online news platforms including the World Nuclear News, The Guardian, Africa Business and CNCB Africa. In 2022, Women in Nuclear South Africa warded her for her work and dedication. In 2021, Princy won the Women in Nuclear Global Excellence Award, which aims to celebrate achievements and commitment to the areas of communication, education, mentorship, and leadership. Additionally, Princy has previously served in the boards of Women in Nuclear South Africa (WiNSA) as well as African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN), while continuing to promote the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology for the benefits of humankind.
