Pitso Sekhoto is a dedicated young engineer who earned his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town. He is a passionate professional in the engineering field, actively advocating for positive change and inspiring the younger generation to consider careers in STEM disciplines.
Currently, Pitso serves as a middle manager at Eskom Holdings, bringing over a decade of experience in the power industry. In his role, he focuses on Substation Automation Integration, where he works on innovative solutions to integrate renewable energy systems into the grid and plays a vital part in grid modernization.
Pitso was honored with the Manager of the Year Award for 2024, marking his first year in a middle management position. Furthermore, In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he also received the prestigious 2023 Eskom Manager’s Award for Young Professional of the Year.
In 2023, Pitso was appointed Chairperson of the AFSEC Young Professionals (YP). He also holds the esteemed position of South Africa’s Cigre D2 and B5 Secretariat. D2 focuses on Information Systems, Telecommunications, and Cybersecurity, while B5 deals with Protection and Automation.
In 2022, Pitso had the honor of representing South Africa at the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Young Professional program held in San Francisco, where he was actively involved and made significant contributions to global engineering standards.
Pitso is a rising star in the South African engineering landscape. He has been appointed to various committees and continually engages in activities related to youth development, mentorship, and outreach programs.
