Prof. George Alex Thopil is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering and Technology Management, University of Pretoria, South Africa. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering at VTU, India, a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch and a Ph.D. in Engineering Management at the University of Pretoria. He has also received his professional education in Energy, Sustainability, and Life-Cycle Assessment from MIT, USA. He also serves as a senior member of the South African Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (SMSAIEE) and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (MIEEE), while being past chair of the Engineering Management Society – South Africa chapter. Additionally, he consults on multi-disciplinary projects in the energy and technology domain. He is registered as a professional engineer with the engineering council and is a rated scientist with the national research foundation.
