Let’s start with some background on Congo Equipment and the company’s proud history. Where in the world are you active?
We are the official CATERPILLAR dealer in the Greater Katanga region. Congo Equipment was established in 2007 as a result of the merger between Tractafric and Barloworld Equipment.
Any specific projects or success stories that you are particularly proud of and want to share?
We have assembled dozens of machines for one of our clients from the Glencore group. We are proud of our team of expert technicians who have outperformed themselves repeatedly.
Where in Africa are you focusing for future growth?
We are based only in the Greater Katanga, from where we have a strong presence of our field agents in the four provinces, with 24h/7 services and the availability of parts at reduced costs.
How important is the DRC for Congo Equipment? And the mining industry in particular?
The purpose of our existence is to provide to our customers state-of-the-art equipment to facilitate the extraction, transportation and transformation of raw materials through the high-performance of our equipment.
What is your vision for your operations in the DRC and the region? Are there particular challenges?
Our vision is to facilitate our customers in their work, reduce their operating costs for more profitability, through our reliance on our proven technology.
What surprises you about the mining industry?
Due the robust nature of the CAT equipment, they outperform the competition despite working in very harsh terrain under constant punishment.
What will be your message at the upcoming DRC Mining Week in Lubumbashi?
We would like to present our new range of GC machines, explain what GC is as well as the advantages.
