Overview

Company: Care Community Education Centre (CCEDUC) Child Development

Care Community Education Centre (CCEDUC) is implementing a scalable, community-driven solution that integrates solar-powered water systems, borehole development, and climate-smart irrigation to improve water access and livelihoods in Yumbe District, Northern Uganda, including Bidibidi Refugee Settlement.

The project combines solar-powered pumping technologies with locally led borehole drilling (including women-led “Muzuzu” drilling teams) to provide sustainable water for domestic use and smallholder agriculture. The initiative supports vulnerable refugee and host communities by enabling year-round vegetable production, improving nutrition, and generating income through VSLA-supported enterprises.

CCEDUC has supported thousands of beneficiaries through water access, irrigation, and livelihood programs, demonstrating strong community ownership and sustainability. This project aims to scale solar water infrastructure to reach additional underserved communities, reduce dependency
