Navigating the Eskom micro-grid revolution in South Africa

Listen as Nick Singh, the Head of the Smart Group Center of Excellence at Eskom Research, Testing and Development sits down to uncover Eskom’s perspective on and plans for the micro-grid market.

During this exclusive podcast, Singh talks about the thought process, consideration and support that went into Eskom’s launch of a micro-grid project, which he says was “years in the making.”

“The fact that the renewable prices have really come down in terms of PV panels and battery energy storage and inverters makes this a very attractive solution,” notes Singh.

“Micro-grids are now fully integrated into the Eskom strategy and that is something that we as a smart grid team are very proud of,” he shares.
