EFSA was set up in 2016 as a not-for-profit association.
Its objectives are to: –
• represent the common interests of all the ecommerce sector to goven1ment;
• represent the ecommerce to the banking sector;
• promote trust in ecommerce to both consumers and businesses in order to build the
sector and help ring-fence online fraud;
• encourage more training on, and education about digital commerce in South Africa;
• grow research on South African ecommerce;
• input into the ongoing negotiations at the African Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the
Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) through the pan-African
Ecommerce Forum Africa (EFA).
EFSA is the national association for ecommerce recognised by regulators and goven1ment
ministries, and by the Banking Federation and the Payment Association of SA (PASA).
