MTN

Life has been an interesting journey. I was fortunate to start my career during a time of digital change in corporates and have found myself, sometimes through my own efforts, but many times purely by chance, in business units at the bleeding edge of digital innovation and transformation.  

In my current role I lead the our e-Verticals business for MTN. The role is focused on growing new business areas that represent strategic and revenue opportunities for MTN. These areas include EdTech, eHealth and Smart Home Security.  

MTN has, as a stated objective, worked to creating a marketplace for digital activity and my role is focused on building this at scale. This includes focusses on strategy, product management, sales and governance.  

Prior to this I held the position of Chief Commercial Officer for Tencent Africa, a subsidiary of China’s largest technology company. The role included growing partnerships within the Naspers group and leveraging Tencent’s power in negotiating with US, European and pan African deal makers. As a member of exco, I spent time at Tencent’s commercial head office in Hong Kong and also at its operational head office in China.  

Before Tencent I was head of content and ecosystems for Samsung Electronics Africa, where I was responsible for funding and growing tech start ups that supplied services to Samsung across Africa. The role allowed me to spend time in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya.
