Simon Just is the Group Head: Payments for Standard Bank, a prominent pan-African banking group. He is responsible for payments across the 20 markets in which the group operates. His portfolio integrates Standard Bank’s strategy and efforts in payment modernisation, wallets, remittances, embedded finance, payment orchestration, Web 3.0 and the group’s fintech partnership portfolio in payments.
Before Standard Bank, Simon fulfilled executive roles at various organisations in banking and technology. During an extensive career in banking, Simon served as managing executive of a large Transactional and Deposits franchise in South Africa, and also lead a consumer cards business, product and strategy in Home Loans, and retail banking transformation. Simon and his teams have driven successful transactional portfolio turnaround strategies, complex fintech-bank integrations and many innovative firsts, including retailer transactional banking, co-brand
card programmes, agency banking, contactless payments in transit, and cardless ATM money transfers.
Prior to his career in banking and financial services, Simon practised as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and IBM, helping organisations to solve complex business problems, maximise growth and improve business performance. Simon has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Management from Andrews
University in Michigan, USA. He also completed the INSEAD Advanced Management Programme in 2010
