
Ms. N. Mhlanga is an accomplished Environmental and Sustainability professional with over 21 years of international and South African experience across ESG, sustainability strategy, energy, climate finance and circular economy solutions. She is the Chief Sustainability Officer for the Coega SEZ, responsible for driving sustainable development of the zone through embedding environmental, social and governance targets. She is the key driver of Coega’s vision to transform itself into an Eco-Industrial Zone.
Her career includes previous senior leadership roles at CHEP, where she worked across India, the Middle East, Turkey, and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as positions with the United Nations Capital Development Fund and Royal Haskoning DHV. In 2024, she was appointed non-executive Director and Board Member of the Water and Sewerage Company of Lesotho (WASCO) and as Chairperson of the (WASCO) ESG Sub-Committee.
Ms. Mhlanga holds two master’s degrees, one from Stellenbosch Business School and the other from University of Cape Town, is a Registered Professional Natural Scientist, and a GRI-certified and Green Building Council-accredited professional.
