Mukuru

uan Seco is the Chief Growth Officer and East Africa MD of Mukuru, a leading next-generation
fintech platform in Southern Africa that offers affordable and reliable financial services to
customers across Africa, Asia and Europe.
Juan is a versatile business leader with 18 years of experience managing high-performing,
multicultural teams with unique expertise in the African fintech sphere. He holds a Bachelor of
Commerce from McGill University and is a Certified Public Accountant from the US.
In his role at Mukuru, Juan is responsible for expanding the wallet, value-added services and
digital payment solutions for the business, enabling a suite of services and products that are
relevant to its growing customer base. He is currently focused on deploying the Mukuru Wallet in
multiple countries in SADC as well as working on enabling Mukuru Pay as the most relevant
alternative payment method for cash users while leveraging the Mukuru Network for bill
payments and settlements.
Before joining Mukuru, Juan was Chief Executive of Jumia Kenya and Senior Vice President of
Consumer Financial Services at JumiaPay, where he was responsible for launching new products
in multiple countries and growing payment solutions across Africa.
Juan was born in Spain and now lives in Kenya, with his career taking him across Europe, Africa,
and North America over the years. He is married with three kids, an avid football supporter and
loves music
