Earlier in his career, as Project Lead at Standard Bank, he played a pivotal role in conceptualising and developing a next‑generation trade platform, an initiative that required deep integration into legacy systems, breakthrough work in unfamiliar technology environments, and rigorous, end‑to‑end testing. His track record for delivering large‑scale systems with precision is matched only by his passion for cultivating workplace cultures rooted in excellence, collaboration, and enjoyment.

At Absa, Josh has been instrumental in shaping the bank’s API banking roadmap, including crafting, and delivering the pricing strategy for Absa’s open‑API banking portfolio, a landmark achievement that strengthened Absa’s leadership in embedded finance and developer‑driven banking capabilities.
More recently, Josh has been closely involved in the evolution of API‑powered payment innovation, including Absa’s strategic partnership with Ozow to launch Absa Pay, a real‑time, account‑to‑account payment solution designed to accelerate seamless, secure digital payments in South Africa. His work in this space reflects his broader mission: building payment experiences that are faster, safer, and more inclusive for customers and businesses.
Josh holds an Honours Degree in Marketing Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Markets from the University of Johannesburg, both completed while working full‑time, demonstrating the commitment and drive that continue to define his career.
