He is the Director of Sustainable Environment and Blue Economy at the African Union Commission. His experience covers the following sectors Biodiversity, Blue Economy, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Forestry, Land Management, Meteorology, Multilateral Environmental Agreements, Water and Wildlife. He has 27 years of professional experience, of which 17 years of his career have been in international organisations. Most of this work focuses on sustainable development and resilience building. Before joining the African Union Commission, he headed Climate Change at the Commonwealth Secretariat, and also Natural Resources Management at the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Mr Nyambe has also worked for the Government of the Republic of Namibia, as a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry. Furthermore, he was also once the Head of the National Remote Sensing Centre of Namibia; and prior to that he was a Lecturer for Environmental Impact Assessment and Ecology at the University of Namibia. He has also been serving as a board member on several ecosystem and sustainable development projects and programmes. His passion lies in fostering sustainable management of natural resources, climate finance and building resilience to environmental shocks.
