Early revenueWasteLine is a South African circular-economy technology company developing WCOS™, the Waste Circular Operating System: a digital platform that coordinates, records and verifies the movement of recoverable materials across fragmented recycling value chains.
The platform connects households, businesses, waste collectors, informal waste reclaimers, material aggregation partners, recyclers, municipalities and producer responsibility organisations within one traceable operating environment. It combines collection-service management, participant onboarding, logistics coordination, material transaction records, geolocation and time-stamped recovery data, compliance reporting and supply-chain intelligence.
WasteLine generates revenue through household and business collection subscriptions, service-provider subscriptions, enterprise data solutions, marketplace and transaction services, white-labelled deployments, and municipal and producer-responsibility integrations.
The company has validated its model through an operational MVP in eThekwini, South Africa. The platform currently supports approximately 300 households, 35 waste collectors, five material aggregation or buy-back facilities and two recyclers, while facilitating the recovery of approximately seven tonnes of recyclable material per month. WasteLine is now preparing to commercialise its enhanced Version 2 platform, strengthen its artificial-intelligence and data capabilities, expand across eThekwini and establish a scalable foundation for deployment in other South African and African markets.
