Scale-UpMBAKA RECYCLIT SAS is a Congolese circular economy company transforming post-consumer plastic waste into valuable recycled materials for industrial markets. Based in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, the company currently collects, sorts, compacts and commercializes PET plastic waste, supplying regional recycling and manufacturing companies.
MBAKA RECYCLIT is building an integrated recycling value chain that will progressively transform locally collected PET bottles into washed rPET flakes, recycled pellets and, ultimately, preforms for the beverage and packaging industries. The company is developing its operations in the Grand Katanga region, with a regional market strategy targeting the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, South Africa and Tanzania.
The company combines waste recovery, inclusive employment and industrial manufacturing. Its collection network works with informal waste collectors, with a strong participation of women, creating income opportunities while increasing the volume of plastic recovered from the environment.
MBAKA RECYCLIT has already generated commercial revenue and established relationships with regional buyers. Its next stage of growth is the deployment of industrial PET washing and processing capacity, enabling the company to move from trading baled PET waste to producing higher-value recycled raw materials.
Our long-term ambition is to build a regional circular plastics platform that reduces plastic pollution, substitutes virgin materials with recycled feedstock, creates green jobs and strengthens local manufacturing capacity in Central and Southern Africa.
