Early revenueBebeque is a Nigerian circular bioeconomy company transforming agricultural waste into clean energy, biochar, and value-added agricultural products. We develop and deploy biomass gasification and pyrolysis technologies that convert rice husk and other agricultural residues into renewable electricity, heat, and soil-enhancing biochar, reducing dependence on diesel and other fossil fuels while addressing agricultural waste challenges.
Our integrated business model connects farmers, agro-processing, renewable energy, and circular resource utilisation. Through our rice farmer outgrower network, currently supporting over 4,000 farmers, we mobilise agricultural residues generated during rice processing and convert them into energy to power agro-processing facilities. The resulting ash and biochar are returned to farmers as soil amendments, creating a closed-loop system.
Our existing 150 kVA biomass gasification system provides renewable energy for rice parboiling, drying, milling, destoning and polishing. We are now preparing to scale this model through a 1MW biomass power plant that will supply renewable electricity to underserved communities, including institutional and SME customers, while developing a 1000 kg/day continuous slow-pyrolysis system for biochar production.
Bebeque aims to replicate this model across major rice-producing regions in Nigeria and subsequently across Africa, creating green jobs, improving farmer incomes, strengthening energy access, reducing greenhouse-gas emissions, and demonstrating how agricultural waste can become a valuable resource within a scalable African circular economy.
