Overview

The global shift toward sustainable mobility demands a workforce with specific skills to enable the widespread use of electric vehicles(EVs). However, in Africa, the shortage of local EV manufacturers and assemblers as well as the high cost of EVs means that the region mostly depends on the importation of used EVs that typically and more often encounter
breakdowns.

Technicians come into contact with EVs when they experience breakdowns after they have already been imported by customers. This project lays out a paradigm shift in EV technician training that incorporates extended reality (XR) technology. XR immerses technicians in real-life scenarios, providing unmatched opportunities to combine theoretical knowledge with real-world applications without the need or use of physical vehicles.
This study intends to create and test innovative XR-based training modules customized to Africa.

Why Investing

1
Rapid Growth in the Electric Vehicle Sector
The electric vehicle (EV) market is experiencing exponential growth, driven by increasing consumer demand, government incentives, and a global push towards sustainable transportation. This surge ensures a continuous and escalating demand for skilled technicians adept at servicing and maintaining EVs. Investing in training programs and services that cater to this sector guarantees alignment with a booming industry, offering robust market opportunities and job creation.
2
XR-Based Training Solutions
Extended Reality (XR) technology, encompassing Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), provides immersive, scalable, and highly effective training environments. This innovative approach not only enhances the learning experience but also significantly reduces training costs and downtime. Companies adopting XR-based training can gain a competitive edge through better-prepared technicians and streamlined operations, making investments in this technology a strategic move with high potential returns.
3
Alignment with ESG Trends
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors are becoming increasingly crucial in investment decisions. Investing in training programs and technologies that support the EV sector aligns with these trends by promoting environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and good governance. This alignment not only enhances the attractiveness of the investment from an ethical standpoint but also promises strong financial returns, as companies and investors alike are drawn to ventures that demonstrate a positive impact on society and the environment.
