Enlit Africa keynote session Day One

South Africa’s Minister of Energy and Electricity, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, will deliver the keynote address on Day One at Enlit Africa 2025 on Tuesday, 20 May, as part of a livestreamed opening to the continent’s go-to conference and exhibition for power, energy and water.

The Minister will be joined on stage by a variety of African utility chiefs and energy experts. Ramokgopa’s address will be at 9:20am, but the opening session kicks off at 9am with a welcoming remark from VUKA Group’s Director: Power, Energy and Water Portfolio, Chanelle Hingston.

Hingston will be followed by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and then Minister Ramokgopa.

Eric Amoussouga, Commercial Director, Power Transmission – SSA, Grid Solutions for Ge Vernova will also deliver a presentation on A technology driven transformation.

Energy Council of South Africa CEO James MacKay will then moderate a panel discussion on Technology and the future of power.

The discussants include:

  • Dan Marokane, Group CEO – Eskom, South Africa
  • Kadri Nassiep, Executive Director: Energy at the City of Cape Town, South Africa
  • Sengiphile Simelane, Group Executive, Power & Industry at the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA), South Africa
  • Vusumuzi Dlamini, Chairman, Energy Intensive Users Group, South Africa
  • Godwin Afamefuna Aguiyi, Assistant General Manager, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Nigeria
  • Galebolae Otimile, General Manager of ICT, Botswana Power Company, Botswana

The opening session of Day One will be livestreamed on LinkedIn. Enlit Africa runs from 20 to 22 May at the CTICC in Cape Town, South Africa.
