Beemobee Project: Revolutionising African Mobility with Sustainable Micro-Mobility Solutions

September 05, 2024

Beemobee, a Moroccan startup co-founded by Adam Dadsi and Mounir Qalam, is making waves in the African micro-mobility market by taking a unique approach to electric vehicle adoption. Instead of focusing solely on electric cars, Beemobee prioritises two and three-wheelers, recognising their potential as a more accessible and sustainable solution for the continent.

“The future of mobility in Africa lies in public transportation and micro-mobility,” asserts Qalam, emphasising the importance of sustainable solutions that cater to the specific needs of the region. “The market share of cars park in Africa is between to 3 to 4 % vs total fleet worldwide and I don’t see a strong grow in near future”.”  This realisation led Beemobee to focus on a market segment often overlooked by larger players: the growing demand for affordable, reliable, and environmentally friendly two and three-wheelers and overall micromobility.

A Multifacette Approach

Beemobee’s approach to addressing the African mobility landscape is multifaceted. The company’s strategy is rooted in its commitment to technological expertise, sustainable development, and strategic partnerships.

The team is developing its software and hardware, ensuring control over the technology and a unique value proposition in the market.  This commitment to internal development allows them to tailor their solutions specifically to the needs of the African market, addressing the challenges of terrain, infrastructure, and affordability.

In addition to technological innovation, Beemobee is deeply committed to sustainable development. The company aims to establish a circular economy, refurbishing and repurposing electric vehicle components, minimising waste and contributing to a more sustainable environment.
This circular approach extends to the lifecycle of the vehicles themselves, with a focus on extending the lifespan of electric components through refurbishment and recycling. By prioritising sustainability, Beemobee is setting a new standard for the micro-mobility industry, demonstrating a commitment to responsible practices that benefit both the environment and the local community.

Morocco: A Strategic Launching Pad

Morocco has been strategically chosen as the launching pad for Beemobee. “Morocco is going to build the first Gigafactory for batteries in Africa, «with Gotion project under deployment, explains Qalam, highlighting the country’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.  Beemobee is also capitalising on Morocco’s burgeoning tourism industry, with a particular focus on Marrakech, a city that is actively embracing sustainable development. The city’s commitment to green initiatives aligns perfectly with their mission, providing a fertile ground for the company to showcase its solutions and build a strong presence in the market.

But Beemobee’s vision extends far beyond Morocco. The company’s ultimate goal is to create a sustainable transportation ecosystem across the continent, leveraging partnerships with key players in various African countries. “Africa is a huge continent, and we cannot do it alone,” states Qalam, emphasising the need for a collaborative approach to tackle the unique challenges of the region. “We need to work together as a continent to create a sustainable future for all. The future of Africa is made of clusters”

Driving Positive Change

Beemobee’s vision extends beyond simply providing electric vehicles. The company is committed to driving positive change within the communities it serves.  Their commitment to local manufacturing and job creation empowers local communities, fostering economic growth and social development. Furthermore, Beemobee’s focus on sustainable practices, such as recycling and refurbishment, contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.

The challenges facing the African continent are complex and multifaceted. But Beemobee is demonstrating that sustainable solutions, tailored to the specific needs of the region, can drive positive change and contribute to a brighter future for Africa.
