Nathan is the Programme Director for New Energy Vehicles (NEV) at the IDC Just Energy Transition
(JET) Programme Management Office (PMO). He oversees the implementation of the JET investment
plan for the NEV portfolio. He also leads and coordinates the IDC Automotive and NEV Value Chain
Strategy. With close to 13 years of working experience at the IDC, fulfilling several roles, he has a
wealth of experience in many sectors such as Automotive and Transport Equipment, Forestry and
Wood Products, Chemicals and the Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical Value Chain.

Nathan has focused on crafting a balanced pathway towards industrialisation and transport
decarbonisation where net positive outcomes can be achieved. This includes developing IDC’s industry
value chain strategy for Automotive and New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) and assisting with drafting South
Africa’s Just Energy Transition Investment (2022) and Implementation Plan NEV Chapters (2023).

Nathan holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Economics.

Nathan is a seasoned global speaker and has been invited as a subject matter expert to present on
various global platforms, such as the World Economic Forum, UNEP mobility workshops, and
Smarter Mobility Africa. He has also published and contributed to various thought leadership articles
and online posts
