Mlibo Yokwe

Senior Business Development Manager SA – HDF-Energy

Mlibo Yokwe is a forward-thinking energy professional working at the intersection of alternative fuels, dispatchable power, and low-carbon infrastructure in emerging markets. He currently works with HDF Energy South Africa, where he is involved in developing grid-supporting generation solutions that combine renewable energy, energy storage, and hydrogen-based power systems to deliver firm, dispatchable electricity.

Previously, Mlibo played a key role in South Africa’s green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) ecosystem through his work with GIZ, supporting public-private partnerships, logistics and infrastructure studies, and early-stage project development—particularly for export-oriented PtX value chains from the Northern Cape. His experience spans hydrogen, e-fuels, gas-to-power, and alternative fuels for hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy industry, freight, and rail.

Across both public and private sectors, Mlibo specialises in early-stage project readiness, stakeholder engagement, and navigating complex regulatory and procurement frameworks. He works closely with government entities, system operators, developers, and financiers to align technology choices, policy, and infrastructure planning in support of a pragmatic and just energy transition.
