Mashale Phumaphi is CEO of Etavi Renewables, driving utility-scale clean energy development across Southern Africa. A Botswana-based engineer turned financier, he founded Shumba Energy in 2011, growing it into one of the country’s largest energy companies and listing on the Botswana and Mauritius exchanges. He now leads Etavi’s renewable energy efforts, spearheading the 100 MW Tati Solar PV Park, SAPP-linked project developed with international partners. Recognized among Africa’s 100 most influential mining figures by Miningmx in 2021, Phumaphi champions a pragmatic energy transition balancing Africa’s developmental needs with sustainable growth.
