
Leila joined GSMA Mobile for Development in April 2022 where she leads advocacy and policy initiatives aimed at leveraging digital solutions to advance climate action in low- and middle-income countries. She has a particular interest in topics such as digitally enabled climate finance, urban resilience and the blue economy working with partners such as multilateral organisations, governments and start-ups mainly in the Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.
Prior to joining GSMA, Leila worked for several years as a civil servant with the Swedish government, notably at the Embassy of Sweden in Angola. Here, her main focus was on trade and investment, specifically engaging with the technology and telecommunications sectors, where she cultivated strong relationships with the Angolan government and international stakeholders.
Leila holds a Master’s degree in political science from Uppsala University in Sweden and is currently based in London.
