Hennie van der Merwe is an experienced agribusiness entrepreneur & senior engineer holding a BEng (Hons) degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.  

Hennie has 30 years of engineering and business experience, working in diverse fields from agricultural mechanization & crop processing to business, project and market development. Hennie has an excellent knowledge of agribusiness in Africa and the structuring and operating of cross-border operations and was responsible for the development of numerous unique business and technical solutions in the broader African agribusiness environment.  

He has an in depth knowledge of the local agricultural, irrigation and agroprocessing equipment sectors and personal and ongoing contact with a wide spectrum of manufacturers and distributors locally and abroad.  

Hennie has visionary thinking ability, can initiate change and mobilize people and resources for a common goal. 

Hennie is currently the CEO of the Agribusiness Development Corporation, based in Stellenbosch.
