Faye O’Connor OBE joined the British Diplomatic Service in 2001 and has held numerous positions in London and abroad.

She has served in Mexico and Moscow, working on political issues, good governance, and economic development. Her roles in London include running strategic counter-terrorism communications and heading international climate teams both in the UK’s Foreign Office and in the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Her work with the Mexican government on COP16 in 2010 earned her an OBE, which she received from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2011. As HM Ambassador to Uruguay, she led her Embassy to become the first of any country, in any country, to achieve UN Climate Neutral Now certification and supported advances in Uruguayan climate action, from sustainable agriculture to electric vehicles and sustainable fashion.

Faye is the Vice President and Ambassador of Nature-based Solutions at One Carbon World. She is currently on a career break from the UK Diplomatic Service and is focused on scaling nature-based solutions, building bridges across public, private, and international sectors, and aligning all efforts with global best practice and the wider SDG agenda
