Overview

The project consists in the construction of a 90 000 ton per year Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant in Awash Arba, Afar Region with the purpose to supply SAF to Ethiopian Airlines, the largest and fast growing airline of the African continent. The plant will produce SAF using the Axens Alcohol to Jet technology. In a first phase alcohol will be imported from Brazil and Thailand and in a second phase alcohol will be produced locally using cassava and maize. The plant is ideally located on the Djibouti-Addis train line and the SAF production Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) complies with all the ISCC – CORSIA requirements.
