Overview

Ammonite Environmental, in partnership with Africa Biomass Company (ABC) and Nedbank, is launching a pioneering Grouped Carbon Credit Project focused on sustainable agriculture and regenerative land use practices across South Africa. This innovative initiative will accelerate the transition to a green economy by monetising emission reductions from improved agricultural biomass management. It is a grouped Carbon Credit Project that will enable and incentivise farmers (both locally and elsewhere in Africa- eventually) to utilise biomass from tree/land clearing operations in a more environmentally responsible way (than burning). This incorporates activities like chipping wood waste (also coming from the clearing of invasive plants) for compost/biochar/biofuel production, and also the subsequent potential for soil enrichment and carbon capture.- Project is about to reach financial close on the back of a detailed financial and technical feasibility study that has already been concluded.
