Bankable FeasibilityThe proposed Biogas Production Facility—technically a biomethane production plant—is designed to supply clean, affordable, and reliable fuel for LAMATA’s expanding fleet of Compressed Biogas (CBG) buses. The plant will have a nameplate capacity of 70 million m³ per year and an operational capacity of 57 million m³, sufficient to meet LAMATA’s projected biomethane demand from 2029 to 2044. This output is tailored to fuel up to 1,000 CBG buses by 2044, supporting Lagos State’s strategy to shift toward low-emission, climate-resilient public transport.
The project offers a secure, long-term off-take arrangement anchored by LAMATA, significantly reducing market and revenue risk for investors. While the plant can be scaled to serve additional industrial or commercial customers in the future, the current phase focuses exclusively on meeting LAMATA’s guaranteed demand to ensure operational stability and strong initial financial performance.
With rising fossil fuel costs, urban air quality challenges, and increasing pressure for sustainable transport solutions, this biomethane facility represents a bankable green infrastructure investment. It combines predictable demand, government support, and alignment with global decarbonisation trends—creating a high-impact, commercially sound opportunity in one of Africa’s most dynamic and fast-growing urban markets.
