Overview

Uganda’s urban transport depends on fossil-fuel minibuses and motorcycles, driving congestion and emissions. E-Bus Xpress, a Kiira Motors spin-off, operates seven e-buses in Jinja and plans expansion to Kampala and secondary cities. GGGI supports by creating business models, financing strategies, and stakeholder engagement to overcome barriers. The project promotes SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), reducing emissions and improving air quality. Activities include economic modelling, investor mobilisation, and capacity building, leveraging green finance tools and partnerships with government and city authorities.
