Pre-feasibilityThe Kigali MBT facility is an integrated waste management project aimed at processing municipal solid waste (MSW) at the Nduba dumpsite. The facility will leverage a combination of mechanical processing and biological treatment, including anaerobic digestion (AD) and composting, to recover recyclables, generate biogas, and produce Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) for use in cement production. The project is designed to reduce landfill dependency, minimize environmental pollution, and create economic value through energy generation and material recovery. The facility is expected to process 400 tons per day of MSW and generate 23 GWh/year of electricity, improving Rwanda’s circular economy and sustainable waste management practices.r
