Overview

Hamba Mbane is a scalable, all-electric last-mile delivery project designed to replace petrol motorcycles with ZANEMALI electric delivery motorcycles, cutting fuel costs, emissions, and noise while improving delivery efficiency. The project is already operational and market-validated, with a Letter of Intent from Famous Brands (Debonairs Pizza stores) to support electric delivery deployments. Hamba Mbane directly addresses rising fuel prices, urban pollution, and unreliable energy infrastructure by offering a clean, cost-effective, and resilient delivery ecosystem. At the core of the model are locally manufactured, off-grid battery-swapping stations built in the Eastern Cape. These stations are powered by solar panels integrated with vertical wind turbines, enabling 24/7 operations without dependence on Eskom. Swapping batteries takes minutes, eliminating downtime and increasing rider productivity.

Hamba Mbane creates local jobs, supports youth riders, and strengthens the Eastern Cape manufacturing economy through local assembly, energy infrastructure, and skills development. The model is highly scalable across townships, cities, and franchise networks

Why Investing

1
Aligned with a High-Growth Continental Trend
According to the Africa Green Economy study, transport and e-mobility are critical to green urbanisation, economic productivity, and emissions reduction. Rapid urbanisation is driving strong demand for electric two- and three-wheelers, especially in last-mile logistics—exactly where Hamba Mbane is positioned.
2
First-Mover Advantage in Logistics Electrification
Africa is leapfrogging directly to electric mobility. The study highlights logistics electrification and pilot proliferation as key market trends. Hamba Mbane is already live, with a Letter of Intent from Famous Brands (Debonairs) and off-grid battery-swapping infrastructure, placing it ahead of concept-stage competitors.
3
De-Risked, Scalable Investment
A supportive policy environment, growing DFI and donor funding, and increasing investment in charging infrastructure reduce risk. With a 5-year, 1,000m² ELIDZ facility, local manufacturing, and renewable energy-powered swapping stations, Hamba Mbane offers scalable returns with measurable climate and social impact.
