Growth StageAntarctik is a Congolese technology company developing Mukulima, an AI-powered digital ecosystem designed to modernize agricultural value chains and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The platform integrates several complementary solutions covering the entire agricultural value chain. Mukulima AI is an intelligent agricultural assistant designed for low-literacy farmers. It enables users to diagnose crop diseases from a simple smartphone photo, identify and safely use crop protection products through barcode scanning or product name search, receive locally adapted agronomic recommendations, and access multilingual Text-to-Speech assistance in French and local languages. Mukulima Track provides digital farmer identities, farm geolocation and agricultural traceability, while Mukulima Soko connects farmers directly with buyers. Mukulima Transport optimizes agricultural logistics by linking producers with transport providers, and Mukulima Invest expands access to investment, agricultural finance, insurance and climate finance solutions.
Mukulima addresses key challenges faced by smallholder farmers, including limited access to extension services, improper use of agricultural inputs, poor market access, high transportation costs, lack of financing, and increasing international traceability requirements.
To date, Mukulima has 5,330 registered users, has reached 10,026 farmers through 50 agricultural cooperatives, facilitated the commercialization of 50,000 metric tons of agricultural products, and established three Mini Agricultural Labs that support farmer training and innovation. The platform is currently operational in North Kivu Province and is preparing to expand into Ituri, Tshopo and Haut-Uélé.
By combining artificial intelligence, agricultural data, digital traceability and financial innovation, Antarctik is building a scalable digital infrastructure that strengthens productivity, market access, climate resilience and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers across Africa.
