Overview

The SWIO Venture Builder is a joint initiative that aims to bridge the significant and well-reported finance gap being faced by coastal communities and small-scale sustainable blue enterprises. By providing dedicated capacity building and targeted resourcing, the venture builder aims to substantially improve and diversify the livelihoods of coastal communities, particularly women and youth, in order to significantly reduce threats to coastal ecosystems, and where possible restore them, as well as strengthen the social and economic resilience of these community members.

To achieve these goals, the SWIO Venture Builder brings together partners and networks along the value chain, each with different expertise and priorities, in a coordinated and synergistic manner to deliver impact at scale. Working at the local and regional scales allows the venture builder to address critical barriers to finance and sustainable development that no single organisation would be able to overcome alone.
