Pre-implementationThe project focuses on collecting mobile battery and circuit board scrap, which are abundant in Africa due to the increasing use of electronic devices. By systematically gathering these discarded items, the initiative aims to prevent environmental pollution caused by electronic waste.
Once collected, the scrap is processed with specialised equipment to extract valuable materials like lithium, cobalt, copper, and precious metals. These materials can be reused in manufacturing new batteries and electronics, promoting a circular economy and reducing the need for raw material extraction. Additionally, the project creates job opportunities in collection and recycling, supporting local economies while addressing waste management and contributing to sustainable development.
