Overview

Manderly Agriculture is a controlled-environment agriculture company producing premium gourmet vegetables — tomatoes, microgreens and aromatics — for the hospitality sector in Cabo Verde. Founded on Ilha do Sal, the company runs a fully operational hydroponic and greenhouse facility supplying international hotel chains including Robinson, Hilton and Meliá, with RIU in the pipeline. In Q1 2026 alone, Manderly harvested 7 tonnes of tomatoes from just 1,000m² under cultivation, and projects €120–140K in revenue this year from tomatoes, microgreens and aromatics combined.

The company has built the infrastructure to scale on Sal — solar power, water storage, and fertirrigation systems sized for expansion up to 10,000m² — along with a warehouse, office and a solid operating team. Manderly differentiates itself from lower-cost local competitors through consistent quality, commercial reliability and a brand identity built around sustainability, social impact and gourmet-grade local produce, in a market where hotels are increasingly prioritizing trusted local suppliers over cheaper alternatives.

Building on this proven model, Manderly is now structuring a scale-out joint venture on Boa Vista island, where a local farmers’ association holds land and access to desalinated water. Through a Spanish holding company (MAG Holdco), Manderly will contribute its production know-how, brand and existing commercial client portfolio, while the farmers’ association contributes land and water in-kind and an external investor provides growth capital. The Boa Vista project moves directly to a one-hectare greenhouse, skipping the pilot phase Manderly navigated on Sal, and is structured to combine equity investment with concessional/impact debt.

Why Investing

1
Climate-Resilient Premium Agriculture
Combines hydroponics, greenhouse cultivation, and desalinated water systems to produce high-value crops year-round in Cabo Verde’s arid conditions, competing on quality, consistency, and reliability for premium hospitality markets.
2
Asset-Light, Community-Owned Expansion Model
Instead of acquiring land, Manderly partners with local farmers’ associations through joint ventures, allowing communities to retain ownership of land and water resources while sharing directly in the value created.
3
Replicable Model with Strong Local Impact
The approach enables cost-efficient expansion across additional islands while supporting food security, rural employment, import substitution, and community wealth creation without requiring capital-intensive land acquisition.
