Overview

Darubini ya Afya’s Eco Char initiative is a youth-led green innovation addressing energy poverty, waste management, and climate resilience in Kenya. Our patented Eco Char Scrubber converts plastic and organic waste into clean syngas fuel for cooking and nutrient-rich biochar for soil restoration. Targeting schools and low-income communities in Embu and Nairobi counties, the project replaces polluting firewood and charcoal stoves with affordable, health-friendly syngas cookers, significantly reducing indoor air pollution and deforestation.

Beyond clean energy access, the biochar produced enhances soil fertility, supporting regenerative agriculture and food security. We empower youth and women by providing training in green technologies, circular economy skills, and climate advocacy, creating sustainable livelihoods.
