Overview

The AquaGuard Project – Plastic Recovery & Circular Economy Initiative aims to reduce plastic pollution in Lake Victoria by intercepting waste directly from businesses along the lakeshore. Operating in Kisumu and expanding to Homa Bay and Busia, the project collects, sorts, and processes plastic waste using branded bins, trained youth agents, and eco-friendly transport. With added shredding capacity, AquaGuard will convert plastic into granules for resale, creating jobs and promoting a circular economy. The project targets diverting over 250 tons of plastic annually while supporting green certification for partner businesses.
