Ncubeko April is a Facilities Electrical Engineer at ISUZU Motors South Africa with experience spanning automotive manufacturing, power utilities and industrial electrical engineering. He began his career in technical roles at Volkswagen South Africa, Eskom and Tenneco before joining ISUZU’s Graduate-in-Training programme in 2020, where he progressed into facilities engineering. In his current role, he is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of critical industrial infrastructure within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.

His technical expertise includes medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution, power quality, emergency power systems, utilities management, energy optimisation and regulatory compliance. He has led and supported projects involving substations, generators, compressed-air systems, boilers, HVAC systems, lighting and plant electrical infrastructure, helping to ensure reliable plant operations while advancing safety, operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Ncubeko works closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, municipalities and utility providers to develop practical engineering solutions that improve infrastructure reliability, reduce operational risk and support production continuity. He has also contributed to collaborative initiatives such as the Struandale Adopt-a-Substation programme, which brought local businesses and stakeholders together to protect critical electrical infrastructure and strengthen the reliability of the local electricity supply.
