UVU Africa, a non-profit organisation formerly known as the Cape Innovation & Technology Initiative, is dedicated to building future-fit, inclusive societies across Africa through technology and innovation. With a vision of a united continent embracing innovation for positive, sustainable transformation, UVU Africa has been a pivotal ecosystem orchestrator for over 23 years, actively driving innovation and digital inclusion at a population level. From its origins as Africa’s first tech incubator in 1999, the organisation has evolved into a group of complementary units working towards digital inclusion and economic growth continent-wide. The organisation designs and implements catalytic interventions, empowering unemployed youth with digital skills and work readiness training through CAPACITI, supporting entrepreneurial development with UVU Accelerate, tackling the education crisis through Injini EdTech Accelerator & Think Thank, while fostering commercial viability for biotech concepts through UVU Bio’s specialised incubator and open access research lab. With a specific focus on marginalised communities, UVU Africa brings digital inclusion to the informal and township sectors, aiming to drive employment and economic activity.
