Ziyanda Mpakama

Associate Vice-President, Africa Finance Corporation

Ziyanda Mpakama, a senior member of AFC Capital Partners, brings a wealth of expertise as a seasoned Infrastructure Finance Specialist with 16 years of experience in Public-Private-Partnerships (PPPs) and Project Finance within the African renewable energy and water industries. Her extensive background encompasses the entire project development cycle, demonstrating proficiency in project preparation, development, and implementation from both private and public sector perspectives.  

 

Ziyanda’s career in development finance commenced at the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), South Africa’s largest Asset Manager, where she financed projects in the Renewable Energy Sector. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in financing projects within the Renewable Energy Sector. Subsequently, she joined the ranks as a Commercial Manager for international Independent Power Producers, further expanding her impact and expertise in the field. Shifting her focus to water infrastructure projects, Ziyanda expanded her influence by contributing her expertise to notable institutions such as the Stockholm International Water Institute and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa.  

 

She holds a Master’s degree in Development Finance from the University of Stellenbosch and is currently enrolled for a MSc in Climate Change & Development with the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. Her diverse experience and educational background underscore her commitment to driving sustainable development in the infrastructure and environmental sectors.
