Thobekile Gambu is an Environmental Scientist and International speaker, Enlit Africa Municipal Forum Advisory Board Committee Member, Advisory Board Member of the DEVAC Infrastructure Summit, Green Building Council Task Force member, Women Economic Assembly KZN Energy Sector Lead, Vice President of the South African Youth Parliament for Water and a member of the Coordinating committee for the National Water Services Science Forum.

Thobekile possesses a Masters in Environmental Management, a Master of Science Chemistry and is currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering focused on buildings energy. She has 13 years’ experience and her current role involves coordinating Umngeni-Uthukela Water’s efforts towards environmental sustainability.

Thobekile also leads Umgeni Water’s Energy and Reducing Emissions task team whose role is to develop and implement emissions reduction projects including renewable energy and energy efficiency projects towards energy transformation. Thobekile has recently been selected as a finalist at the Standard Bank Top Women Awards 2023.
